Forget Windows Password – Here Is the Help

Microsoft Windows is the preferred operating system, which controls the working of millions of PCs all around the planet.

Due to the high popularity of the operating system, Microsoft Windows has gained huge attention from hackers all over the world. If someone know how to access your computer it is a real security threat.

No wonder that most Windows users have protected their PC using a password. The big problem is that we have to remember lots of different passwords these days and this is why many Windows users already had to deal with the following problem at least once: you are trying to install new windows, or a trying to add a new user.

And then when you try to log on you suddenly notice that you have forgotten your password. In case you have forgotten your Windows password, do not worry, there are several things you can do to reset your Windows password.

How do we handle this sort of situations?

One thing you can do is go ahead and delete your SAM files which can be found at Windows / System32 / Config. SAM file is the account password database file.

Another option is resetting the password by accessing the PC in safe mode. Most computers running Windows XP do not have a password set for the hidden administrator account that is accessible only in safe mode. You can access safe mode by pressing the F8 key when you see the BIOS screen during the boot process.

Windows will now show you several options. Choose “SAFE MODE” and press ENTER. Log onto the account named “administrator” and open the control panel.

Navigate to the user account applet and click the user account with the forgotten password. Click “remove password” and the account will be password free.

3rd party tools have been developed that help you reset your Windows password.

My personal fave is “Password Resetter”. The software discovers the registry key that contains your passwords and gives you the choice to take away the password from any user account.

  3. Absolutely agree with you. If you have an admin password that is good, you can only use it to unlock your Windows password. But if you don't have or also forgot admin password you still need not be worried about it, for the second method you can try. I tried similar software like the second method introduced, which is Windows Password Killer and you can learn more from:
